~**Gail DeYoung: Author Gail DeYoung Biography**~

Gail was born in the Chicago, Illinois area in the 50’s, the eldest of four children. Her grandparents moved into her house when she was in her teens and she learned to bake and cook the German way from her grandma. She went to the local community college for two years taking business courses then decided to get a job downtown to put that knowledge to work.

From a young age, she loved stories, movies and acting out scenes. She and her friends would play for hours acting like cowboys and Indians or secret agents. In school, she tried out for and got parts in several plays. Around 14, she read her first romance novel and was hooked. When she got her first job in downtown Chicago, she’d often spend her lunch hour visiting the bookstores to buy a book to read on the train ride back and forth to work.

At twenty-three, she moved out on her own, and met her husband shortly thereafter. They got married when she was twenty-five. They went to the Poconos mountains for their honeymoon and to Hawaii for the first year anniversary. They loved to travel and see the various states bordering Illinois and even traveled to Florida to visit her relatives. When she and her husband decided to move to Florida, her family said they’d never make it down there. Now, more than twenty years later, she still makes Florida her home.

She started writing in the 90’s and joined the Florida Romance Writers in Miami, Florida. It was through her connection with FRW that she got to meet many well-known romance authors and determined that she would join their ranks some day. Always willing to get involved and take charge, she ran their conference one year and helped for several years afterward, getting to know the business and making connections with authors, editors and agents. She had a set back for several years after her divorce where her muse went into hiding, but through the coaxing of friends, family and co-workers, she dusted off her stories and began again in 2006. This time, nothing is in her way of following her dream.

Gail’s spiritual journey began in the late 1990’s when she starting associating with psychics and healers. Her curiosity expanded to reading all types of metaphysical books and for several years, that was all she read. Though raised Catholic and with a strong belief in God and angels, she felt there was something missing. Today, Gail is comfortable with her expanded belief in God and the Universe. She meditates regularly.

Gail has two children, a son, 26 and a daughter, 20 who go to college and live with her. She also has a very precocious cat named Precious, and a new addition named Baby who both run the household.
